Astraea Sting 2007

Astraea is an international project with the aim to launch unmanned aircraft into the world’s airspace to carry out all manner of tasks from reconnaissance and environmental monitoring to weather surveying and police patrolling. With this in mind, the sting needed to reflect the nature of the project whilst creating an eye catching and captivation piece of video. Starting with the stylised ‘A’ of the logo, 3 ‘aircraft’ were created that fly at speed over a seascape high up in the clouds. Using careful edits and camera work, a single craft is joined by two more that fly in a formation, with vapour trails and clouds rushing by. Sound and music, written specifically for the sting complement the serene imagery. Towards the end of the animation the formation breaks leaving the single
